Die deutsche RN Vision STS-Mannschaft hat ihr Lineup für die 2018´er Saison der GT4 European Series komplett. Neben den beiden bereits bekannt gegebenen Duos Razvan Umbrarescu (ROM) und Gabriele Piana (I) sowie Pavel Lefterov (BUL) und Miguel Christovão (P) wird ein dritter GT4 vom Möchengladbacher Team an den Start gebracht. Die beiden BMW Motorsport Junioren Beitske Visser (NED) und Nico Menzel (GER) werden 2018 die Saison der GT4 European Series am Steuer eines BMW M4 GT4 bestreiten. Die GT4 Kategorie ist fester Bestandteil des BMW Motorsport Junioren Programms. Die beiden Junioren bekommen daher von BMW im Rahmen Ihrer Ausbildung die Chance sich im Team RN Vision STS im neuen BMW M4 GT4 in der mit 47 Startern stark besetzten GT4 European Series zu beweisen.
„Ich freue mich sehr darauf, gemeinsam mit Nico im BMW M4 GT4 an den Start zu gehen“, sagt Visser. „Ich konnte das Fahrzeug bereits im vergangenen Jahr in Barcelona fahren und habe gemeinsam mit Dennis Marschall auf Anhieb gewonnen. Nun hoffe ich natürlich, mit Nico an diesen Erfolg anknüpfen zu können.“
Nico Menzel kennt den BMW M4 GT4 bereits bestens, da er schon 2017 als Entwicklungsfahrer in erste Einsätze mit dem neuen Kundensportmodell von BMW mit eingebunden war. „Es ist toll, mit einem Auto eine Rennsaison bestreiten zu können, an dessen Entwicklung man selbst beteiligt war. Ich bin sehr gespannt auf die GT4 European Series, denn das Niveau ist dort extrem hoch. Ich denke, wir sind sehr gut aufgestellt, aber klar ist auch, dass Beitske, das Team und ich erst einmal Erfahrungen werden sammeln müssen.“
Gemeinsam mit RN-Vision STS bekamen die beiden BMW-Motorsport Junioren beim Testtag der GT4 European Series in der vergangenen Woche im belgischen Zolder eine erste Gelegenheit sich mit der Konkurrenz zu messen. Dort brachte das deutsche GT4-Team 2 BMW M4 GT4 für die Stammpiloten Razvan Ubrarescu und Pavel Lefterov, sowie Beitske Visser und Nico Menzel an die Strecke. Dabei wurden auch de Startnummern der Wagen offiziell vergeben. Der BMW M4 GT4 von Visser/Menzel wird mit der #110 in der Silver-Wertung der Meisterschaft an den Start gehen. Das Duo Umbrarescu/Piana startet mit der #111 ebenfalls in der Silver-Wertung. Lefterov/Christovão gehen mit der #112 in der Pro-Am-Wertung an den Start.
Teamchef Marek Zuchowski ist klar welche Herausforderung auf seine Mannschaft mit dem 3-Wagen Engagement in der europäischen Top-GT4-Serie zukommt: „Wir sehen die Zusammenarbeit mit BMW Motorsport im Rahmen des Junior Programms als besondere Auszeichnung und große Herausforderung, vor allem aber als einmalige Chance für unser aufstrebendes Team. Wir haben sehr ehrgeizige Ziele, nicht nur für dieses sondern auch für die kommenden Jahre, und sind davon überzeugt, dass uns die Erfahrungen in einem derart professionellen Umfeld dabei helfen werden, diese Ziele zu erreichen.“

The German RN Vision STS-Team has completed its lineup for the 2018 season of the GT4 European Series. In addition to the already announced BMW M4 GT4 Crews Razvan Umbrarescu (ROM) / Gabriele Piana (I) and Pavel Lefterov (BUL) / Miguel Christovão (P) the team from Mönchengladbach will field a third GT4 entry. The BMW Motorsport Juniors Beitske Visser (NED) and Nico Menzel (GER) will compete at the wheel of another BMW M4 GT4. The GT4-category is part of the BMW Motorsport Junior-programme. Visser and Menzel will therefore get the chance to prove their talents at the wheel of an RN Vision STS prepared BMW M4 GT4 in the GT4 European series, which featueres a strong grid of 47 starters this year.
”I am very pleased to share the BMW M4 GT4 with Nico,“ says Visser. „I was able to debut the car in Barcelona last year and I won the race together with Dennis Marshall. Now I hope to be able to build on this success with Nico.”
Nico Menzel knows the BMW M4 GT4 well, as he was already involved as development driver in the first outings with the new customer sport model of BMW in 2017. „It’s great to be able to start a full racing season with a car that you have helped develop. I am very excited about the GT4 European series, because the level of competition is extremely high there. I think we are very well positioned, but it is also clear that Beitske, the team and I first have to gain a lot of experience.“
RN-Vision STS and the two BMW-Juniors had a first chance to pit themselves against their competitors at the GT4 European series testday at Zolder last week. There the German team brought two BMW M4 GT4 for their regular drivers Razvan Ubrarescu/Pavel Lefterov and for Beitske Visser and Nico Menzel to the track. At this occasion the starting numbers of the cars were also locked in for the season. The BMW M4 GT4 of Visser/Menzel will carry the #110 and will start in the Silver-class of the championship. The returning duo of Umbrarescu/Piana in the BMW #111 will be competing in the same class. Whereas Lefterov/Christovão will share the wheel of the #112 BMW in the Pro-Am class of the series.
Teamchef Marek Zuchowski is aware of the challenge his squad faces with a triple entry in Europe’s most competetive GT4-series: ”We consider the cooperation with BMW Motorsport and their Junior programme a special honour and a great challenge, but also as a unique opportunity for our aspiring team. We have very ambitious goals, not only for this season, but also for the years to come, and we believe that the experience in such a professional environment will help us achieve these goals.”
